A computer-implemented method of predicting the behaviour of a vehicle tyre on a wet road surface comprises: providing a computer-implemented tyre model; inputting a vertical tyre load (Fz) and a longitudinal tyre velocity (v) to the tyre model; using the computer-implemented tyre model to calculate a predicted tyre cornering force (Fy) in terms of the lateral load-dependent friction coefficient (µy) and/or cornering stiffness (Ky) being dependent on the vertical tyre load (Fz) and being dependent on the longitudinal tyre velocity (v); and outputting the predicted tyre cornering force (Fy) from the computer-implemented tyre model.
