The present invention relates to an energy storage device (16) and, more desirably, to a device for a vehicle (10), which includes a tow battery or fuel tank and a crash structure (18) that is profiled, covers the outside of the energy storage device (16) by a protection method, and is designed to be deformed by a predetermined method when getting a shock to reduce energy. In addition, the device comprises: a first cover unit (20) which has a strip shape, covers an upper strip-type section of the outside of the crash structure (18) heading for the opposite side of the energy storage device (16), and has a planar outside heading for the opposite side of the crash structure (18); and a second cover unit (22) which has a strip shape, covers a lower strip-type section of the outside of the crash structure (18), and has a planar outside heading for the opposite side of the crash structure (18). Although the device is provided with the profiled crash structure, the device does not possibly require an entire side surface cover while desirably satisfying requirements for a side surface under run protection device or a side surface protection device.
