In order to compensate pressure loads while using an individually formed inner space (18) of a vehicle more efficiently, the invention provides a sphere array fuel tank system (26) comprising several tank modules (10). Each tank module (10) has a tube (14) bearing a series of spheres (12) configured as single small tanks for liquified gas, especially LH2. A modular tank (28) may be established by a close sphere packing of the spheres (12) of the tank modules (10). Further, the tank modules (10) itself, the vehicle (20), especially an aircraft such as an airplane (22) equipped therewith and an operation method therefore are described.
