Methods and systems for operating a hybrid electric aircraft propulsion system (200) mounted to an aircraft. The method comprises driving a first rotating propulsor (206A) from a first electric motor (204A) operatively connected to a generator (202), driving a second rotating propulsor (206B) from a second electric motor (204B) operatively connected to the generator (202), and driving a third rotating propulsor (206C) from a thermal engine (201), the thermal engine (201) operatively connected to the generator (202) and configured to drive the generator (202).
