Disclosed is a ground-powering system (10) for unguided electric vehicles (1) designed to only connect a segment (11.1) of track (11) to a source (400) of supply voltage if it has been determined that an electric vehicle is on the segment and to otherwise disconnect the segment from the voltage; the system being characterised in that it is designed such that, if an obstacle is detected: - close to, or on, a portion of a segment situated in front of an unguided electric vehicle situated on the segment, and/or - close to, or on, a portion of the segment situated behind the vehicle situated on the segment, then it disconnects the segment from the voltage source.
