The present invention discloses a portable ALPR device which can have wired data communication and power supply, or alternatively, wireless communication and internal power supply by means of a battery. The portable ALPR device of the present invention has a system for inclining the device as a whole and another separate and independent system for inclining the ALPR or video cameras, for correctly reading license plates. The inclination required for correctly reading license plates can be carried out by means of inclining only the ALPR device, only the cameras, and a combination of both. The fixing system (16) is configured to be able to be fixed temporarily to a vehicle, for which the fixing system comprises magnets (14) and suction cups (15) and further comprises adjustable inclination means (17c, 18c, 18d, 19) allowing an adjustable inclination of the device with respect to the vehicle.
