The present invention proposes an apparatus (1) which includes one or more microwave antenna(s) (11) arranged for emitting a microwave frequency for inciting such mechanical damage in viruses. The microwave antenna(s) (11) can be arranged for emitting a frequency within the range between 1 GHz and 20 GHz; more preferably within the range between 8.0 GHz and 9.5 GHz, even more preferably between 8.2 GHz and 8.8 GHz, even more preferably between 8.3 GHz and 8.5 GHz.
