The present marine propulsion system includes a plurality of marine propulsion devices. Each of the plurality of marine propulsion devices includes a propeller shaft, an engine, an electric motor, a power transmission mechanism transmitting mechanical power to the propeller shaft from at least one of the engine and the electric motor, an electric circuit connected to the electric motor, and a controller controlling the engine. The controllers in the plurality of marine propulsion devices are communicable with each other. When the controller in each of the plurality of marine propulsion devices is set in a communicable state, the controller puts a limitation on an output of the engine in a condition that the controller is incommunicable with any of the others of the controllers in the plurality of marine propulsion devices.
