A driving circuit 610 receives an input voltage VIN, and supplies a driving current ILED to a semiconductor light source 502. A plurality of m (m ≥ 2) bypass switches SW1 through SW3 are coupled in parallel with multiple light-emitting elements 504_1 through 504_3, respectively. A bypass control unit 650 generates m-phase gate pulse signals Sg1 through Sg3 having a duty cycle that corresponds to the input voltage VIN and phases shifted in increments of 360°/m, and controls the m bypass switches SW1 through SW3 according to the m-phase gate pulse signals.
