A method for managing the recharging of an energy storage device of a motor vehicle comprising a heat engine, a first non-heat drive source coupled to the heat engine and to a first wheel, and a second non-heat drive source coupled to a second wheel, the first and second drive sources each being capable of exchanging energy with said energy storage device, the management method comprising a step of preventing the exceeding of a so-called load-shedding torque value (Vd) for recharging the storage device by the first and second drive sources, a step of controlling braking distributed between the first and second wheels, a step of detecting an exceeding of the load-shedding value by the second drive source and, in response to said detection step, a step of limiting the first drive source and allowing the exceeding of the load-shedding recharge torque value for recharging the storage device.
