An apparatus and method for an aircraft flight management system (12) configured to analyze a takeoff sequence for an aircraft (10), the aircraft flight management system (12) comprising a memory (42) storing runway information associated with the runway (22) from which the aircraft (10) will depart, one or more inputs configured to receive variables comprising real-time aircraft variables (62) and real-time condition variables (82) that influence an actual velocity (VA) of the aircraft (10), sensors (54, 58) for sensing the actual velocity (VA) of the aircraft (10); and a processor (40) configured to compare a real-time takeoff value (VA) to a takeoff requirement value (25).
