A method of monitoring a location of a conveyance apparatus (103) within a conveyance system (101) including: detecting a first location of the conveyance apparatus (103) at a first time using a position reference system (113); detecting a second location of the conveyance apparatus (103) at a second time using at least one of a pressure sensor located on the conveyance apparatus (103) and an acceleration sensor located on the conveyance apparatus (103); and determining that the second location is equivalent to the first location if the second time is within a selected range of the first time.
