The invention relates to a method for charging an energy store (10) of a motor vehicle (2), wherein the motor vehicle (2) has a charging section (11), in particular a charging connection, wherein the charging connection (11) is connected to an at least partly movable charging device which has a charging section (4) which, to charge the energy store (10), is connected to the charging section (11) of the motor vehicle (2), wherein the charging section (4) of the charging device (1) has at least one section movable relative to the motor vehicle (2) which, before the charging of the energy store (10), is arranged at a distance from the motor vehicle (2), in particular from the charging section (11), wherein the charging section (4) is brought up to the charging section (11) of the motor vehicle (2) by means of an electric drive associated with the charging device (1) and, after that, the charging section (4) is connected to the charging section (11) to charge the energy store (10).
