The invention relates to an electrical charging assembly (100) for charging electric vehicles (112), comprising: at least one electrical charging plug connection (102, 202, 302), which comprises a socket (216, 316) having a plurality of first contacts (220, 320) and a plug (218) having a plurality of second contacts (22), which correspond to the first contacts (220, 320); a charging control unit (104), which is electrically connected to an electrical connection unit (106) by means of the electrical charging plug connection (102, 202, 302) during normal use, wherein: the socket (216, 316) has at least one slidable protection plate (226, 326) having a plurality of openings (228, 328), which correspond to contact openings (224, 324) of the first contacts (220, 320); the protection plate (226, 326) is designed, in an unconnected state, to close the contact openings (224, 324) of the first contacts (220, 320); and the protection plate (226, 326) is designed to interact with the plug (218) in such a way that, by insertion of the plug (218) into the socket (216, 316), sliding of the protection plate (226, 326) is brought about in such a way that the second contacts (222) can be inserted into the contact openings (224, 324) of the first contacts (220, 320) through the openings (228, 328) in the protection plate (226, 326).
