The invention relates to a method for dynamically controlling a signal light system (2). Phases (P0, P1, P2, Pi) of the signal light system (2) are controlled by means of a controller (3) on the basis of time lost, said time lost being the total time lost (21) of all of the vehicles located in a detection radius, wherein the total time lost (21) is estimated by means of a predictive device (4) on the basis of current and estimated future vehicle positions (10-x) of the vehicles in the detection radius. The invention additionally relates to a corresponding device (1).
