The invention relates to a reinforcing support layer (9) of the carcass (2) of a pneumatic vehicle tire (11) having reinforcing supports, wherein the reinforcing supports are arranged substantially parallel to each other and embedded in elastomeric material within the reinforcing support layer (9), wherein at least one reinforcing support is designed as a cord (20) consisting of at least two threads (21, 22), which are twisted together, and wherein the at least two threads (21, 22) are made of polyester. The problem to be solved by the invention is that of providing a reinforcing support layer of the carcass of a pneumatic vehicle tire which has increased durability against impact stress. Said problem is solved in that the at least two threads (21, 22) are twisted together into the cord (20) by means of a twist factor of 250 to 400, preferably 270 to 350, particularly preferably 280 to 320. The invention further relates to a pneumatic vehicle tire (11) having such a carcass layer (9).
