An example hybrid aircraft propulsion system (2) includes one or more parallel propulsion units (24), each of the parallel propulsion units (24) comprising: a first propulsor (32A); a gas turbine engine configured to drive the first propulsor (32A); and an electrical machine (26A) selectively configurable to: generate, for output via one or more electrical busses (4), electrical energy using mechanical energy derived from the first propulsor (32A) or the gas turbine engine; and drive the first propulsor (32A) using electrical energy received via the one or more electrical busses (4); and one or more series propulsion units (12), each of the series propulsion units (12) comprising: a second propulsor (16A); and an electrical machine (14A) selectively configurable to: generate, for output via the one or more electrical busses (4), electrical energy using mechanical energy derived from the second propulsor (16A) or the gas turbine engine; and drive the second propulsor (16A) using electrical energy received from the one or more electrical busses (4).
