The subject of the invention is a section made of extruded metal alloy provided for a load-bearing structure of a motor vehicle, this section (2) having, formed directly by the extrusion, a functional surface (6) that has a useful transverse dimension (D) in a transverse plane, and an adjacent face (8) that forms an angle with this functional surface (6), this section being noteworthy in that it has a connecting radius (R) between the functional surface (6) and the adjacent face (8), and in that the adjacent face (8) has a recess (20) comprising a concavity formed just beyond the connecting radius (R).
