The control dial (1) is modularly constructed and comprises a base module (2) and an operating module (3), which is independent of the base module (2) but can be connected thereto and can be operated even in this position, the operating module (3) forming the handle of the control dial (1) and the operating module (3) having a stored electrical energy source (16) and having components required for generating a control signal.
