The present invention relates to a device (10) for controlling a temperature of a battery (1), a battery unit (30), and a method for controlling a temperature. The device (10) of the present invention comprises a switching element (11), wherein the switching element is disposed between upper and lower portions (4, 5) of the battery (1). The device (10) comprises a DC/DC-converter which is galvanically isolated. The DC/DC-converter has primary and secondary sides (12, 13). The primary side (12) has a first connection unit (A1) for a positive electrode (DC+) of the battery (1) and a second connection unit (A2) for a low potential of the upper portion (4) of the battery (1). The secondary side (13) has a third connection unit (A3) for a phase potential of the lower portion (5) of the battery (1) and a fourth connection unit (A4) for a negative electrode (DC-) of the battery (1). The primary and secondary sides (12, 13) each have two half bridges (H1, H2), (H3, H4). A transformer (14) is disposed between the half bridges. In addition, at least one side may be connected to an LC-circuit to form an LLC-converter.
