An electric vehicle includes a frame unit (21) and a vehicle body cover unit (27). The vehicle body cover unit (27) includes a thread board shielding left and right tread tubes (212, 213) of the frame unit (21) between which a receiving space (A) is defined to receive a battery box (5) that receives and holds a battery. The battery box (5) has two sides provided with support shafts (51). The battery box (5) is rotatable between an open position and a storage position. A locking device (7) is selectively set in releasable engagement with a positioning member (52) provided on the battery box (5) so as to selectively lock the battery box (5) in the storage position. An operation unit (8) is provided for controlling the locking device (7) to engage with or disengage from the positioning member (52) so as to allow the battery box (5) to rotate from the storage position to the open position.
