A driving assist device determines a driving reference pattern of a train and presents assist information about the driving operation of the train to the driver of the train. The driving assist device is characterized by: being provided with a simulation pattern generation unit for generating a simulation pattern by simulation; calculating a degree of similarity on the basis of said simulation pattern and an actual pattern to determine a first section having a high degree of similarity and a second section having a low degree of similarity; and generating, as said driving reference pattern, a running pattern that is combined with said simulation pattern in said first section and with said actual pattern in said second section.
