The present invention relates to a self-supporting carrier structure (10) for an instrument panel (39) in a vehicle (27), comprising a network of a plurality of hollow support elements (12) and solid support elements (14) arranged according to the results of a load path analysis, wherein the hollow support elements (12) form at least one manifold (16) used as an air duct comprising at least one air inlet (18) for introducing air into the hollow support elements (12) and at least one air outlet (20) for guiding the air into a passenger compartment (44) of a vehicle (27). Furthermore, the invention is directed to an instrument panel (39) comprising such a carrier structure (10) and is directed to a vehicle (27) equipped with such an instrument panel (39).
