In one embodiment, a split torque gearbox can include a first compound gear (306a) and a second compound gear (306b). The compound gears (306a, 306b) can each include a piston housing (322a, 322b) with a fluid inlet (342a, 342b) and a piston (320a, 320b) received in the piston housing (322a, 322b) and defining a space within the first piston housing (322a) exposed to the fluid inlet (342a). The split torque gearbox can include a fluid line (340) coupled to each of the fluid inlets (342a, 342b) to supply a fluid to the pistons (320a, 320b) at a predetermined pressure, the fluid line (340) coupled to the second fluid inlet (342b) to supply fluid to the second piston assembly (322b) at the predetermined pressure. Pressure developed in the pistons (320a, 320b) is equal for all gear shafts, and can equalize torque imbalances in the split torque gearbox.
