A braking system (10) for a work vehicle including a first brake pedal (12) configured for activating a first brake circuit (20) and a second brake pedal (12) configured for activating a second brake circuit (22). The braking system (10) is characterized by a linking mechanism (16) that is coupled to the first brake pedal (12) and is configured for selectively linking the first brake pedal (12) and the second brake pedal (14) together. The braking system (10) also includes a sensor (18) that is coupled to the first brake pedal (12) and is configured for sensing an engagement status and a disengagement status of the linking mechanism (16).
