The invention concerns a method for producing an axle (10) for a motor vehicle comprising: - a tubular crossmember (14) having a transverse axis (B) that is resiliently flexible under torsion; - two longitudinal parallel arms (12), each of which is intended to be attached to a body shell of the motor vehicle and each of which is rigidly attached to a transverse end section (30) of the crossmember (14); characterised in that the crossmember (14) comprises an end head (31), the method comprising a step (E3) of rigidly attaching at least one arm (12) to the crossmember (14) by shrink fitting the end head (31) of the crossmember (14) in a recess (34) of complementary shape of the arm (12). The invention also concerns an axle obtained according to this method.
