This illumination device (4) is configured so as to display, outside a vehicle (1) capable of traveling in an automatic driving mode, information indicating the driving mode of the vehicle (1), and is provided with: an illumination unit (42) configured so as to shine light outside the vehicle (1); and an illumination control unit (43) configured so as to set the illumination state of the illumination unit (42) in a prescribed illumination state in accordance with the driving mode of the vehicle (1).
