A vehicle control system capable of reducing damage caused by a relay attack is provided. In one embodiment, a vehicle-mounted device transmits a radio wave B under Bluetooth (registered trademark) communication protocol while a user is absent from home (5), transmits a radio wave A using LF band when receiving a response from a key (4) in response to the radio wave B, and does not transmit the radio wave A when no response to the radio wave B is received. When receiving a response from the key (4) in response to the radio wave A, the vehicle-mounted device permits unlock of a vehicle door or engine start. In an outing mode, the key (4) responds to the radio wave A when the radio wave B can be received from the vehicle-mounted device, and restricts a response to the radio wave A when no radio wave B is received. When the user returns home (5), the vehicle-mounted device and the key (4) each communicates with a home device disposed at home (5) and switches to a return home mode in which the operation on the vehicle is restricted.
