The invention relates to a method of controlling a floating offshore wind turbine operated at sea, the floating offshore wind turbine comprising a tower, a rotor with at least one blade and a floating buoyancy structure arranged for supporting the tower. The method comprising the steps of obtaining at least one motion related parameter (MRP) of the at least one blade, said motion related parameter (MRP) depending on condition of sea and wind, determining at least one control signal (CS) on the basis of said at least one motion related parameter (MRP), and controlling the floating offshore wind turbine dependent on the control signal (CS), wherein the motion related parameter (MRP) is obtained as a dynamic state or change of the at least one blade. The invention also relates to a wind turbine control system for controlling a floating offshore wind turbine and a floating offshore wind turbine.
