The invention relates to a pneumatic or hydraulic switching assembly comprising at least one device (1, 2) that can be switched from a first operating state to a second operating state by the application of pressure to a pneumatic or hydraulic control input (1a, 2a). According to the invention, a control volume (3, 3a, 3b) for a pressure medium is connected before the control input. Said control volume can be connected to a source (1, 5) for a pressure medium by means of a first solenoid valve (4) or by means of a series connection of two valves (4, 6). Furthermore, said control volume has at least one outlet (7) controlled by means of a second solenoid valve (6) or the series connection and/or at least one throttled outlet (7) for the pressure medium. It was recognized that, in such a switching assembly, the solenoid valves (4, 6) must be supplied with current only for much shorter times than according to the prior art. The switching state that is input by means of the first solenoid valve (4) can be preserved as long as desired without current. Thus, the valves (4, 6) must be supplied with current only when the switching state must be changed. In the case of such brief demands, a considerably larger range of supply voltages is permissible for a given internal resistance of the solenoid valve (4, 6). This greater range can be used to design the switching assembly as a whole for lower supply voltages.
