The invention relates to an underwater glider (101) for capturing oceanographic data, wherein the underwater glider comprises a coupling unit (104) and a payload module (105) and the payload module (105) is connected by means of the coupling unit (104) to the underwater glider (101) for low-energy travel underwater, in particular for long-distance transport, and the payload module (105) can be uncoupled at a location of use such that the payload module can be used autonomously at the location of use. The invention further relates to a control station and to a monitoring system, in particular a tsunami warning system.
