The invention relates to an element for absorbing impact energy (1), comprising a shell structure (2) with a first one-piece shell portion (4), the largest dimension of which extends in a first transverse direction (Y) of the vehicle, and at least two portions (3) in the form of box beams with a closed cross-section around a longitudinal axis (X) of each beam portion, the longitudinal axis (X) of the box beams being substantially perpendicular to the first transverse direction. The first one-piece shell portion (4) forms at least one portion of each of the box beams (3) and extends axially along the length of the box beam portions, between a portion for attaching the box beams to a structure of the vehicle (18) and an axial end (12) of the box beam portions (3).
