The present invention relates to a method to operate a packet-based communication network of a railway system, capable of simplifying communication occurring in one railway network and, in particular, capable of realizing communication between a section side service business and a train in a simple scheme. According to the present invention, the method comprises: a step of the train (1) continuously receiving a symbol name (TRN) during an individual traveling time; a step of an address management unit (EDNS+, 6) continuously and dynamically storing a physical packet address of communication hardware (OBU, 2) of the train (1) with respect to various symbol names; and a step of the address management unit replying to an inquiry (17; 36) to ask a communication network (10) about the physical packet address with respect to the symbol name.
