A 3D-printer is positioned in an elevator shaft such that the 3D-printer is movable in a hoisting direction of the elevator car. An elevator guide rail is printed to a wall of the elevator shaft by: printing an elevator guide rail profile by the 3D-printer at a current position of the 3D-printer, and moving the 3D-printer to a next position after the elevator guide rail profile is printed at the current position.
