The invention relates to an electric or hybrid motor vehicle battery charger including: a DC-DC converter (2) connected, on one hand, to the battery and, on the other hand, to an inverter (3); and inductors (L1, L2, L3) of an electrical engine (4) that are connected to the inverter (3), connectable to an electrical power supply system (15). The inverter (3) includes at least three pairs of odd and even arms. The even arms are connected in parallel to the DC-DC converter (2). The odd arms are connected in parallel, by one of the ends thereof, to switches (T1, T2), which are in turn connected to the DC-DC converter (2). Each arm includes a first transistor connected to a midpoint that is in turn connected to a second transistor. Each transistor has a free-wheeling diode. Each inductor of the electrical engine (4) is connected between the midpoint of an even arm and an odd arm.
