A nacelle (24) is provided for an aircraft propulsion system (20). This nacelle (24) includes an outer barrel (58) and an active laminar flow control system (44). The active laminar flow control system (44) includes an array of perforations (112) in the outer barrel (58), a suction source (106A, 106B) and a drain mechanism (108A-110A, 108B-114B). The suction source (106A-106B) is fluidly coupled with the array of perforations (112). The drain mechanism (108B-110B) is fluidly coupled with and between the array of perforations (112) and the suction source (106A, 106B).
