Pneumatic aircraft tire (150) having a carcass (22) and a belt structure (160) is disclosed; the carcass (22) comprises an inner liner (13), at least two inner plies (1, 2, 3, 4) which are wound around a annular bead member (14) from axially inside of the annular bead member (14) toward axially outside thereof and which extend radially outward of the annular bead member (14) towards the tire crown to form respective turnup portions (10, 20, 30, 40), and at least one outer carcass ply (5, 6) that extends radially inward from the crown and axially outward of the annular bead member (14); the at least one outer carcass ply (5, 6) is only partially wrapped around the annular bead member (14) and terminates in an ending (50, 60), wherein a barrier ply (100) is located between the inner liner (13) and the axially innermost inner ply (1, 2, 3, 4).
