The invention relates to a method for monitoring a blind spot of a vehicle, wherein a parking assistance system (15) senses surroundings of the vehicle (S31) by means of a surroundings sensing device (2), and objects are detected in the sensed surroundings (S32), wherein when an object is detected it is checked whether it is located in a blind spot (S33) and an action is triggered if the detected object is located in the blind spot (S34). The subject matter of the invention also comprises a computer program and a driving assistance system which are suitable for carrying out the method.
