The invention relates to a tray table unit (1) for an aircraft, comprising a table body (10), a fixing means comprising at least one holding means (108) and at least one actuating means (105), wherein said at least one holding means is adapted to allow one or more objects standing on a surface of said table body to be released from said table body in a first status of said holding means, and to fix said one or more objects on said surface in a second status of said holding means, wherein said at least one actuating means is adapted to move said holding means from said first status to said second status and vice versa, a control unit (101), coupled to an acceleration sensor (102) for signal transmission, the control unit being adapted to activate said actuating means for said movement from said first status to said second status if an acceleration signal detected by and received from said acceleration sensor exceeds a predetermined threshold value stored within said control unit.
