A ROPS retention system (20) for retaining a suspended cab frame (22) relative to a chassis frame (28) of a work vehicle (10) may generally include a support bracket (30, 31) configured to be coupled to the chassis frame. The support bracket (30, 31) may be positioned relative to the cab frame (22) such that a gap is defined between the support bracket and the cab frame. The system may also include a retention stake extending outwardly from a surface of one of the cab frame or the support bracket between a base end and a tip end. The stake may be configured to be received within a collar opening defined in the other of the cab frame or the support bracket. The stake may define a stake diameter at the tip end that is less than a diameter of the collar opening. In addition, the system may include a connection strap coupled between the cab frame and the support bracket.
