An autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) for recording seismic signals during a marine seismic survey is disclosed. The AUV comprises: a body (1302); an intake water element (1312a) located on the body (1302) and configured to take in water when deployed underwater; at least one propulsion nozzle (1312b) located at a tail or on a side of the body (1302) and configured to eject the water from the intake water element (1312a) for actuating the AUV (1300); at least one guidance nozzle (1320a, 1322a) located on the body (1302) and configured to eject water to change a travelling direction of the AUV (1300); and a seismic payload (1304) located on the body (1302) of the AUV and configured to record seismic signals. The AUV is adapted to land on the seabed; and no components of the AUV, with the exception of an acoustic beacon or transponder and the seismic payload (1304), extend outside the body.
