The method involves deactivating a unit involved in performance of a service when a satellite (S1) is damaged by a light from sun, where the unit is installed on a board of the satellite. The unit involved in the performance of the service is installed on a board of another satellite (S2). The unit is activated when the continuity of the service is needed. The attitude of the satellite is controlled according to the instantaneous position of the sun such that the attitude of the satellite is temporarily modified when the satellite is damaged by the light from the sun. An independent claim is also included for a satellite system.
