A heavy duty tire (1) comprises, a tread portion (2) with a pair of circumferentially extending crown main grooves (3) and a pair of circumferentially extending shoulder main grooves (4) to form a crown land portion (6), a pair of middle land portions (7) and a pair of shoulder land portions (8), wherein crown main grooves (3) have groove widths (W1) of 2-5 % of a tread half width (TWh) , shoulder main grooves (4) have groove widths (W2) of 6-9 % of the tread half width (TWh), an axial distance (L2) between the tire equator and a centerline of one of shoulder main grooves (4) is 52-68% of the tread half width, crown lateral grooves (9) are provided on the crown land portion (6) to form a plurality of crown blocks (12), middle lateral grooves (10) are provided on middle land portions (7) to form a plurality of middle blocks (13), shoulder lateral grooves (11) are provided on shoulder land portions (8) to form a plurality of shoulder blocks (14), crown (9) and middle lateral grooves (10) have groove widths (W3,W4) of from 0.4-2.0 mm, and shoulder lateral grooves (11) have groove widths (W5) of 6-9% of the tread half width (TWh).
