From a captured image capturing an image of the surrounding of a vehicle, there are generated a first image having a rectangular shape and a second image having a non-rectangular, parallelogram shape. A display screen is generated and displayed which comprises the first image and the second image laid side by side, with image contents of the first and second images being continuous with each other and also with adjacent sides of the first and second images being parallel with each other.
