The vehicle has a combustion engine that is coupled to a generator (17) of range extender (16) by self-centering a wire system (18). The crank shaft of the combustion engine and voltage control unit (12) of the generator comprise stub shaft which is provided with a corresponding wire system. The fixed bearing and driver interface (22) are located on a side of generator. The bearings on the side of combustion engine are configured as driver inputs (24) to absorb length extensions of shafts that is caused by a temperature influence. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) control system for electric vehicle; (2) method for controlling engine of electric vehicle; and (3) method for charging battery of electric vehicle.
