The invention relates to a computer-implemented method for indicator assignment for an autonomous train, comprising the steps of: a. detecting at least one physical object (10) by means of a sensor unit (S1); wherein the at least one physical object (10) is located on a route or on a section of the route of the autonomous train, or the at least one physical object (10) is located close to the route or close to the section of the route of the autonomous train, or the at least one physical object (10) is located on an adjacent route or on an adjacent section of the route of the autonomous train; b. determining at least one associated unknown characteristic vector (12) for the at least one detected physical object (10) (S2); wherein the associated at least one unknown characteristic vector (12) has a plurality of characteristics; c. providing a plurality of reference characteristic vectors (22) (S3) which are assigned to a plurality of reference objects (20); wherein each reference characteristic vector (22) of the plurality of reference characteristic vectors (22) has a plurality of reference characteristics; wherein each reference characteristic vector (22) of the plurality of reference characteristic vectors (22) has at least one first indicator which indicates that the associated reference object (20) can be safely driven over; d. comparing the at least one unknown characteristic vector (12) of the at least one detected physical object (10) with each reference characteristic vector (22) of the plurality of reference characteristic vectors (20) (S4); e. assigning the first indicator to the at least one detected physical object (10) if there is at least partial agreement between the at least one unknown characteristic vector (12) and the at least one reference characteristic vector (22) of the plurality of reference characteristic vectors, and otherwise assigning a different, second indicator to the at least one detected physical object (10) (S5); and f. providing the at least one detected physical object (10), the at least one unknown characteristic vector (12) and/or the assigned first or second indicator (S6). In addition, the invention relates to a technical system and a corresponding computer program product.
