The invention provides a range extender control method and electronic equipment, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining the road condition data of an advanced driving assistance system in a vehicle and the navigation data of a navigation system, detecting a long-term congestion event and a short-term congestion event in a road in front of the vehicle according to the road condition data and the navigation data, and controlling the range extender according to the detected long-term congestion event and the short-term congestion event. According to the method, the congestion state of a road ahead is determined, operation of a range extender in the vehicle is controlled according to the congestion state and an event detection result, and range extending control based on the road congestion condition is achieved. The specific adjustment strategy of the range extender is determined by combining the congestion state and the event detection result of the long-term and short-term events, frequent start and stop and high-load operation of the range extender in the congestion environment can be avoided, the service life of the range extender is prolonged, and noise and emission of the range extender are reduced.
