The invention relates to a method for collecting personnel conveyor system-related sensor data from a personnel conveyor system (200, 300). The method comprises: detecting (410) an upcoming predetermined operating event of the personnel conveyor system (200, 300); generating (420) at least one trigger signal to at least one sensor unit (120) in order to collect, from the personnel conveyor system (200, 300), personnel conveyor system-related sensor data of a predetermined type during a detected imminent predetermined operating event of the personnel conveyor system (200, 300); and receiving (430), from the at least one sensor unit (120), the collected sensor data relating to the person conveyor of the predetermined type. The invention also relates to a personnel conveyor system data collection system (100) of a personnel conveyor system (200, 300) and to a personnel conveyor system (200, 300) comprising a personnel conveyor system data collection system (100).
