The invention relates to a method for determining a wear value of an electromechanical wheel brake mechanism (2) of a motor vehicle, the wheel brake mechanism (2) having a displaceable actuator element (6) which can be moved towards a brake disc (12) of the wheel brake mechanism (2) by means of an actuatable actuator (4) having an electric motor (13), the invention relates to a wheel brake device (2) having a rotor (14) which is rotatably mounted and is operatively connected to an actuator element (6), the wear value of the wheel brake device (2) being determined as a function of the displacement of the actuator element. According to the invention, in order to determine the wear value, the actuator element (6) is first displaced against the end stop (19), then the actuator element (6) is moved towards the brake disc (12), the number of revolutions of the rotor (14) is monitored during the movement of the actuator element (6) from the end stop (19) towards the brake disc (12), and the wear value of the wheel brake mechanism (12) is determined as a function of the detected number of revolutions.
