The invention provides a locomotive speed measuring device, which comprises an ultrasonic generator arranged at the front end of a locomotive head and used for transmitting ultrasonic waves to a rail; the ultrasonic receiver is arranged at the front end of the locomotive head and is used for receiving reflected wave beams formed after being reflected by the rails; the controller is in communication connection with the ultrasonic receiver and is used for receiving the reflected wave beam and determining the speed of the current locomotive according to the reflected wave beam; and the vehicle speed alarm module is in communication connection with the controller and gives an alarm when the vehicle speed of the locomotive exceeds a preset threshold value. The vehicle speed is measured through ultrasonic waves, so that the speed measurement error caused by wheel idling in the traction acceleration stage and wheel slipping in the braking deceleration stage of the locomotive can be effectively avoided, and the reliability is good.
